Then there is a large knuckle that adjusts the angle of the boom arm. When you are tearing down or transporting, the boom arm can be set to hide inside the main shaft! Or if you dont need the boom extension, you can basically have a level arm cymbal stand. Just tuck it in!

Then finally there is other knuckle where the boom arm and the cymbal mount come together that you can use to fine tune the placement of your cymbal or accessory.
The very top of the stand has some felt bushings and a wingnut for securing the cymbal.
